"YELLOWKNIFE – Canada is saying goodbye to the north magnetic pole as it drifts off into international waters."

Was it something we said?

"But, at least for the immediate future, it will be closer to Canada than to any other country."

*clings*

Hewitt says the pole should reach Russia by 2050, but there is a possibility it will slow down, or even turn around and come back.

*pleads*

The north magnetic pole is thought to have been in Canadian jurisdiction since the 1600s.

There there, dearest, it wasn't you. Every relationship needs a break occassionally. I'm certain Mags will see that she's better off with Canada than anywhere else and come running back; just need to give her a bit of time.

See, I'm not worried about here once she gets there, because of course I thought of you right away. And I know you'll take care of her.

But it's such a long trip!

... will you put a light in the window?

Huh. so much for "true north" then. Clearly magnetic poles are just fickle things. You're much better without it, dearie.

/hands you so chocolate in consolation

You wouldn't be so fond of the damn thing if you were going through what I am. *stabs Maxwell's equations and mag field lines*

So... how do you describe the direction the north pole is moving in? Can it only move north? Can it only move south?

Enquiring minds with a poor grasp of geography want to know...

Thanks for posting this. It was interesting (especially because it was posted from Yellowknife and I've actually been to Yellowknife. In December.)
