marnanightingale: (grim endurance)

Genevieve Bergeron would have been 36.
Helene Colgan would have been 38.
Nathalie Croteau would have been 38.
Barbara Daigneault would have been 37.
Anne-Marie Edward would have been 36.
Maud Haviernick would have been 44.
Barbara Maria Klucznik would have been 46.
Maryse Leclair would have been 38.
Annie St-Arneault would have been 38,
Michele Richard would have been 36.
Maryse Laganiere would have been 40.
Anne-Marie Lemay would have been 37.
Annie Turcotte would have been 36.

At the peak of their careers, the top of their game.

If even one half of them would have fulfilled one half of their promise -- and I think that estimate altogether too low -- the loss to us is, and continues, immeasurable, and grows, rather than diminishes, every year.

Their deaths sparked a million small revolutions. The changes and gains for all of us, men and women, have been enormous, beyond what we might ever have anticipated.

Just for starters, I think this may now be, on average, the pleasantest country in the world to be a female engineering student in.

I should still prefer to have them alive and safe and working beside us.
