Sometime in the next 14 hours, Pope John Paul II will die, at the age of 84, in pain.

I am not Catholic. Never have been.

I disagree with him on almost everything, politically and theologically.

And have nevertheless always -- often unwillingly -- admired and respected who he was, as a man.

If for whatever reason his death seems to you a cause for joy, and you feel the need to publically celebrate it in your lj, well. I offer a proposal, in all respect:

I will, with respect for your sentiments and mindful of your reasons, refrain from coming and arguing with you about the matter.
