Death Zombies of Actinolite Junction....
Aug. 1st, 2005 04:28 amWell, I'm home.
Many many things happened. Most of them were good. Saw many people, and enjoyed them all.
Err. Enjoyed their company.
Have finally managed to listen to all of Richard II.
angevin2, I think the whole bit about "must the King submit?" is decidedly of the disturbingly hot, but my vote for brainscrubbingly twistedly hot moment really has to go, overall, to the delivery of "Your own is yours, and I am yours, and all", which really does sound as if he can't decide if he's being deposed or wondering what Bolingbroke is doing after the uprising... after all that fretting about who can touch his scepter, too!
Also, Richard dies with a Classic Coarse Acting Extended Death Gargle. Sadly, this makes me giggle even more than the Tarids sound effect does.
I TRY to be serious minded. I do.
Why, WHY must I be sabatoged at every turn?
So, I picked up a Guess Who cd. Because I have a weird fondness for the Guess Who.
This is the most obnoxious song about fangirls ever written. There is no excuse for it. Not even the excuse of it having been written in 1971, because it's on the 2000 live album.
SO WHY IS IT SO DAMNED CATCHY? *bops in a disturbed fashion*
It cries out for the Old Maid In The Garrett treatement, i.e. to be covered by one or more female singers with a talent for subversion.
Or else filking, or both.
*looks trustingly at friendslist*
Seriously, it's the best damned song, musically. Makes ME want to follow someone's daughter home....
Also,
damned_colonial is going to kill me, because I told her when she left work that I would be up when she got home, because I was wide awake then. And OMG sleepy pocket.
Also, I seem to have missed a number of outbreaks of fandom based rancour.
Somebody somewhere has probably scornfully invoked the Cult Of Nice by now, which always makes me a bit rangy, as I am not sure that it actually exists, as such; I often think it functions largely as a handy windmill to tilt at.
As for me, I'm exhausted and stressed at the moment, so I'll probably be sticking with the cults of Being As Civil As Possible To Friends And Not-Friends Both Even When Disagreeing, Picking My Battles, and Remembering That If I've Already Decided I'm Sticking With A Position There Is No Real Point Mixing In.
And, also; Unlike me, Guede does not suck wholesale or retail at trip reports, so here's one day of What I Did On My Summer Vacation, at least.
