Two pictures from the summer road trip

... because God knows when we'll get the rest processed.

This one's a near-miss:



I like it. I got it somewhere in Washington State, by the side of the highway, having spent too long trying to get a picture of something else and stranded myself until the train had gone by.

But it reminds me a bit too much of a magazine cover. Also a bit of the engine got cropped, blast and damn to Hell digital camera shutter delay and all its disappointments.

Makes me really happy, though. It's from somewhere in Wyoming, I think. Once in a long while I manage to get all the elements I wanted, in their proper relationships, and produce something that works for me visually AND narratively. That I can't even begin to do that reliably is why I'm basically not a very good photographer, but at least I know what it is when I see it ...
