Today, I remember the woman who was working at the Red Cross, with us, during the 1998 ice storm. One of us noticed the slightly different Red Cross pin, on her lapel. I asked about it. She told us that it was her thirty-year pin for volunteering. Then, she told us that she had received it in 1980. In fact, she said it had been a little late in coming, that she had started volunteering with the Red Cross, as a teen, during World War II. That would place her at about my mother's age.
Nice lady. I wonder where she is, now. I suspect that she is still volunteering.
