I second that; I'd never heard of this before either, and it seems unjust that I hadn't.

It terrifies me that just being a woman finally able to partake of opportunities previously deemed 'off-limits' is enough to get you killed.

However, I also know that I'm not going to stop being a loud, proud, bisexual feminist no matter what the threat. I can't change what I am & that is it, through and through. Strangely I've often been accused of looking/being lesbian too, so I guess I can't decrease my visibility even if I wanted to.

This made me feel shocked, and sad, and aware that my status as a woman is not yet, & may never be safe.

Yeah. Very much a formative event for my generation (I was born in '69)

Every year I think for at least a moment of how much they might have DONE and BEEN by now... and the loss just seems greater as the years pass.
