... with issues, four stalkers, possible legal difficulties, seeks girl with saviour complex, Ford truck (dually preferred) for dysfunctional sex on first meeting followed by co-dependent relationship and mutual recriminations. Must be decisive and easy-going.

... in other words, we have been to Winslow AZ and had a fabulous dinner there (Turquoise Room at La Posada; highly recommended), and are now in Flagstaff having breakfast at Biff's Bagels and Internet Cafe.

This is a stunningly beautiful part of the world and we are absolutely coming back here.

More to follow, probably. Have a woeful armadillo in the meantime.

OK, this is an allusion I'm completely not getting, due to my extremely piecemeal education in pop music no doubt.

Some awesome climbing down that way, too.

And, yeah, beautiful country. And some good memories, tinged (now) with sadness.

THIS POST INITIALLY MADE ME VERY WORRIED ABOUT YOU.

NOW I AM JUST WORRIED THAT YOU LIKE THE EAGLES. :)

What can I say? It's a strange taste for Old People Music. But I love them.

I was more worried that you like Jackson Browne.

But, actually, that particular album (For Everyman) is still great regardless.

Yes, New Mexico and Arizona have their particular grandeur...been way too many years since I've been around there!

Thank you!

We have lupine here (Minnesota), too, but it is considerably less showy.

Under the right conditions the annual lupines can make a solid carpet of color, and the bush lupines will look like giant blue pompoms. Lemme see if I've uploaded any of the post fire lupine fields I saw last spring...

Ahh...

Oh, oh, annual ones! All right. We have the bush lupines, which are indeed fine. And we can have the annual ones if we work at it, but they mostly don't self-sow and in general put on airs and sulk a lot.

Thank you so much for the photograph. It's breathtaking.

Our bush lupines are more in the coastal scrub or low elevation coastal ranges...they put on a good show too. Sadly the pictures I have of a field dotted with 6-8 foot tall bushes are still filmbound. :(

Post fire the wildflowers tend to be pretty spectacular, what with the extra nutrients...lots of big blue and yellow patches on the hillsides around the pictured area.

I'm currently in Australia, so let's chat via here? I'll be returning home Friday, quite jet-lagged but still happy to see you at some point over the weekend if you'll still be around then. Let me know your itinerary?

I have Friday evening free, though I'll likely be entertainingly jet-lagged and may need to be propped up with caffeine. I could see if [livejournal.com profile] patgreene would be up for the four of us all doing dinner...

Hey Terry/Marna, could one of you ping me about tonight's plans? Having one will help me schedule the jet-lag resistance thing, once I get home ;-)

You guys are making me feel ancient. That's classic rock, not an oldie. Not if it came out when I was in high school, it's not. By definition.

Glad to know you haven't fallen off the edge of the world. You're likely to find some rather plaintive emails next time you check it...
