So, I'm a lifetime insomniac. I can deal.

(I do SO get a lot done before breakfast, if midnight to four am counts ... not the best time for noisy housework, alas, but great for my actual work.)

So, then I develop fibro which among other things is a sleep disorder. Fine, fine, whatever. Sunrises can haz.

I now seem to have developed Restless Leg Syndrome, which is both a known complication of fibro and a known side effect of the drug I need to function. So now I get sort of propelled out of bed whether I want to get up or not, fairly often.

And in conclusion: *mutter* *grumble* *bitch moan complain*

ETA: Oh, and it's JUNE. When I don't sleep much anyway on account of the light. Seriously, this is the sort of week that gives me grave doubts about getting a driver's license. I damn' near walked into a pole this morning.

ETA2: Also, most of the stuff that works well enough for pain to let me sleep when I'm flaring also seems to disrupt REM to some degree.

ETA3: Naptime. I hope.

my dad has rls and takes... dopa? i think for it, and he is quite pleased with it. you may have already discussed this with the relevant medical people, but i thought i'd mention it just in case.

I haven't, actually, as it's of pretty recent vintage. So thank you for that. I'm a bit leery of taking more meds to cope with the side effects of the base med, and then ending up with MORE side effects and so forth in a never ending spiral but on the other hand I'm going to be on this stuff for life, probably, so this I suspect is a neurosis that needs to be gotten over.

Oh dear. I sympathize, having not gone to bed before 3 a.m. for two weeks. And the days I get up early after that -- is not good.

Has the cat come back?

She has not :-)

The annoying bit is, if I could LIE STILL, I could SO sleep.

I am very sorry to hear of this unfortunate confluence of events. I wish I could send you black-out curtains or something.

Restless legs are occasionally a problem for me. I've found that making sure I get enough potassium helps. A banana before bed is a good idea. YMMV.

Insomnia is one thing which makes me think that Satan might exist. I'm really friggin glad that these days, when it does happen, I can usually deal with it with exercise and/or a nightcap.

Good luck getting the RLS sorted! I hope you can get your meds to play nice.

i do feel for you. i feel LIKE you. fibro and restless legs and insomnia and it all sucks swampwater.

i tell ya what, if i could take it away from all the people i know that have that combo and suffer it myself, i swear i would. i wouldnt wish this on *anyone*.

one of the few things that helps me is a white noise machine, which distracts my brain enough to help sleep to come. and i have freaking WORN OUT two handheld solitaire games using them to numb my brain. it doesnt help it that our bedroom is the end of the ductwork like and stays warmer than the rest of the place (except in winter) and light because it faces east.

oh keeping the bedroom cool helps, too.
