I'm off to the clinic the second I finish my coffee, so I love you all but hold the medical advice please.

The charming sight to which my bride awoke this morning.

The last time my eye looked like this I'd been hit hard in the face by a chunk of flying metal and had a freshly broken nose.

Freshly washed out. The face the world has to put up with seeing.

Yikes.
(The infection, not the face.)

Spectacular, innit?

The face is presently kind of hard to distinguish from the infection. You know how we're at that point where we totally don't look our age, until suddenly we do?

A quarter of your face blowing up like a poisoned pup puts the years on FAST.

you look surprisingly like the Chick Pea. Sadly, I cannot confine you to my bedroom until you're feeling well.

Alas. That would be very pleasant indeed.

Oh, you poor thing! And nothing hurts quite like an eye infection/injury. Glad you're going to the clinic - take care of yourself!
*hugs*

Query: was this a sudden over-night onset? Or did it sneak up first?

Do you have ther itchies?

Fairly overnight. I had a slightly itchy eye Saturday evening, I woke up Sunday morning with an eye that looked slightly worse - mostly because I'd slept longer - than the first pic.

I now have antibiotic drops.

There appears to be something passing through Ottawa that causes a fairly mild three to five day eye itching and gumming thing that passes on its own. I just seem to have managed to acquire bacterial conjunctivitis instead. Because I am a very very special snowflake, or something.

Owee, and I hope it gets better soon. Years ago I had conjunctivitus and it was horrid. You have been having a very ill holiday season, and I hope reality will give you at least several months free of ailment sometime soon.

I should up my recent diseases count by one, as I have had my eyes gluing themselves half-shut overnight lately. I thought it just came with one of the other things I caught. So far the count includes the california plague, antibiotics side effects, gummy eyes, and either round two of the plague or else a new sore throat + headache, now with less phlegm.

I had them for a while at the beginning of my Ottawa trip (but well before I saw anyone local). I considered it a recurrence of something I had here in Texas over a year ago. In that case it came up from nowhere over the length of about two hours. Started with dry achy eyes and then trouble seeing... because threads of goo were spreading across my eyes. This on a drive home from Austin, mind. Fortunately I was just the passenger. Got worse and worse, and despite antihistamines when I woke up the next morning my eyes were puffed and glued shut. Never had the real bad red like you did, and the first time it passed off in about 72 hours. I've had minor recurrences since, always both eyes at once.

The NP's theory, and indeed mine, is that there was the viral thing, which she confirms is going around, and which I caught, and probably I was blessed with a blocked tear duct or a sty or something and the combination gave the bacterial thing a chance to take hold.

The only advice I offer is HOLY SHIT. That is quite impressive.

Hope that clears up soon!

*shudder*

I don't know what it is about eyes, but my sympathetic reaction is off the scale when it comes to them. I can't even look at the photos without squinting and my (perfectly uninfected) eyes starting to water.
