We ended up with an old Peregrine, 17', Prospector-type. Looks like just what we want; we're going to head down to Dow's Lake this aft to see how she goes.

Not really; the imperial infection is too close. Certainly in KW and Toronto, people for the most part talked about human weights in pounds, height in feet and inches, and lumber was sold in 2x4s.
